After a hiatus of over 30 years, my first album under my own name, TALES OF LOVE, was released in October 2024.
One year later, on November 17, 2025, I'm thrilled to present another new album: WHY ONLY ANGELS!
What's special about this album is that it consists of 13 songs, all written between 1990 and 1995 – composed between London and Marseille. I played some of these tracks live on stage and for television with my rock trio HUCKLEBERRY FINN (see Spotify: HUCKLEBERRY FINN – Blue Clear Water) back then, while others languished as demos. But only now were they ready to be released.
The recordings took place between April and October 2025 – using nothing more than a small 50-euro clip-on microphone, in order to capture the raw naturalness and authentic feeling, just like with the previous album.
With additional keyboard arrangements and mastering, my longtime friend and excellent music producer from England, Paul Mex, has once again made a more than wonderful job! I'm also delighted that my longtime friend Fiona Church, from my earlier musical days with the band UGLY AS SIN (see Spotify: UGLY AS SIN – The Good, The Bad & The Ugly), has contributed her beautiful voice to three songs!
Songs (Lyrics: here):
"When I first listened to the song Serenade, I was wearing headphones and studying it on my DAV, when the laugh came - I practically leapt out of my chair! For a moment, I tought someone had snuck up behind me, and I even turned around expecting to see someone standing there. It happened several more times before I finally realized what was going on, and even then, it still managed top startle me again. That's when I knew the track had a life of its own - it wasn't just sound, it was spirit captured in a moment. The power of music is truly astonishing. It transcends everything - time, circumstances..." - Paul Mex, Producer

The album TALES OF LOVE is my first CD release in over 30 years. It is dedicated to my girlfriend, who passed away unexpectedly end of May 2024.
While she spent time in France in April and May 2024, I began thinking about what I could give her for her birthday in early June. Our shared passion for music was the spark that led me back to the guitar at the beginning of 2024, after decades of not playing, singing, or writing songs.
And so it happened that I sat down and wrote her a song — something easy and simple, inspired by the track Deborah by T. Rex: My Tangerine.
But shortly after, a second song followed, then a third... The songs and lyrics literally flowed through me, like magic. By the end of May, I had written eight songs. I was incredibly excited to share them with her. But sadly, that moment never came. When I learned of her death, it pulled the ground out from under my feet. I didn't know if I would ever pick up the guitar again. But the songs were there — I couldn't just leave them behind. So I wrote three more and decided to record the album — at home — and release it...
TALES OF LOVE isn't a sterile, glossy production. Yet, in all its beautiful imperfection, it speaks from the depths of the heart and tells an authentic and unvarnished story of a love beyond words. An inspiration for all who don't fear to be touched by life.
The album consists of 11 songs, presented in the order they were written, between April 19 and September 6, 2024. The CD includes a 16-page booklet with all the lyrics. Keyboards and mastering by music producer Paul Mex, London, UK who worked among plenty others with Geoge Michael/Wham!.
